Some elevators pit have simple issues such as, ground water migrating through porous concrete or cement block walls. This activity will get an elevator red tagged (put out of service). this is due to the equation; water migration in equals hydraulic fluid or other contaminant fluids migrating out. In these non-complex situations all that will b required is the Pro-Seal Products, Pro-Seal DP-36, spray applied, and possibly a Pro-Seal PPW Screed coat, with a Pro-Seal AquaFlex finish coat. This Pro-Seal System, under these simple conditions, will dry out an elevator pit and make it water tight.
When you have leaking cracks and joints you will need to step up to pro-Seal products concrete joint and cracks negative and positive side repair system. the leaking joint or crack, once properly prepped, will be filled with Pro-Seal Pro-Pac, filled with Pro-Seal 34 caulking, and packed into the still leaking joint. Once the elevator pit joint or crack has been properly prepared and packed with the Pro-Seal Pro-Pac system, the filled space must be sprayed with Pro-Seal DP-36. immediately. Then fill the remainder of the joint or crack, as specified, with Pro-Seal PPW rapid set concrete patch material. Allow forty-eight hours for the Pro-Seal Products , Pro-Seal Joint and Crack repair materials to cure. one the Pro-Seal Systems are cured there will be no more leaks in the treated areas, Note that if you repair only the leaking cracks and joints, with Pro-Seal materials, the water will migrate to untreated cracks and joints. Elevator pits with standing ground water and/or standing hydraulic fluids, are the most complex elevator pit challenges. these pits will require several pro-Seal systems to stop egress of water, migration of hydraulic fluid or both and to create a barrier and primary containment.
